Deep Cleaning Schedule for Your Whole Home

Is your home in need of some good cleaning and organization?  Are you a fan of “spring cleaning”?  I, for one, am not.  I’ll share with you here what spring cleaning is, why I don’t like it, and what I do instead.  Follow my Deep Cleaning Schedule for Your Whole Home to get your house sparkly clean.  And do it without having to spend every weekend during the spring to have it that way!

What is Spring Cleaning and why do people spring clean?

Spring cleaning is the act of deep cleaning the home from top to bottom during the springtime. I know…earth-shattering.

Spring is one of my favorite seasons.  It is a time of rejuvenation.  Flowers are blooming.  Birds are singing.  After cold winter days, the earth is starting to “wake up.”  I also feel more “awake” and full of energy in the springtime.

Many people take advantage of this burst of energy and use this time to deep clean their house.  With the warmer weather (It really is perfect-all you need is a light jacket!😉), it is a great time to open up the windows and give them a good cleaning (AFTER the pollen is done falling).

Why I don’t like Spring Cleaning:

I don’t know about you, but I am not a fan of “Spring Cleaning” for a few reasons.

I love having a clean house (not always TIDY when the kids are playing and have toys spread out all over, but CLEAN). I have a full-time job and don’t have time to deep clean the whole house in the evenings.  And I don’t want to spend my whole Saturdays cleaning during the springtime.

I’ve tried the spring cleaning thing and often feel like a failure that I’m not able to finish everything before summer.

Also, I want to enjoy the beautiful spring days with my family.  It is the perfect time of year to spend time outdoors hiking, camping, walking, or bike riding.

What I do instead:

Instead of stressing to get it all done in Spring, I’ve decided I’m not going to.  Don’t worry…the deep cleaning will get done!  But it’s not getting done in a 3-month span.

I’ve broken down the spring cleaning jobs I do each year and spread them out over a WHOLE YEAR.  That’s right – 12 months to do what a lot of people cram into 3 months.  This way I can devote one Saturday a month, or an hour each Saturday, to completing my deep cleaning jobs.

This gives me more time during the spring for family time and less stress.

Deep Cleaning Schedule for Your Whole Home:

Here is the schedule I’ve made to help me stay on track and make sure all the important deep cleaning jobs get done during the year.  I hope it can help you too!
