Fatigue is the number one symptom of a slow metabolism.  And what’s the main cause of a slow metabolism?  STRESS!!!
Too much cortisol in your system hinders the thyroid from working like it’s supposed to.  It slows down, and so does metabolism.
One big stressor your body undergoes every day is keeping your blood sugar stable.  It needs to have a certain amount of glucose flowing in the blood at all times to be able to use to make energy.  When it’s too low from fasting, not eating enough calories, not eating enough carbs, or not eating often enough, your energy lowers.
But to keep you alive, cortisol is released. It knocks on the door of your muscles and fat to get some stored glucose to use for energy.  That process (called gluconeogenesis) is stressful!  Cortisol is so important for keeping homeostasis and keeping your body alive and functioning well in emergencies.  But it’s not a hormone we want being pumped out all day every day if we want a happy and healthy metabolism.
Too much exercise, especially cardio, is also not good for someone that needs to recover from a slow metabolism and fatigue.  High intensity exercise raises cortisol, and we want to keep that down and get out of that fight-or-flight state.  Instead, try lower intensity strength training, yoga, or walks.  Or just rest when you’re low on energy.  Listen to that signal from your body and respect it.

Stress is a HUGE contributor to slow metabolism, fatigue, hormone imbalance, and disease.
In this world, we can’t get rid of stress completely.  There will always be stressors.  But we can reduce our stress and help our body become more resilient to it and not let those stressors get us down!
Here’s some ways to do that:
1️⃣Deep breathing- that helps you switch from operating in your sympathetic nervous system (fight-or-flight state where we operate during stress) to your parasympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest, or relaxed state). Make sure to take deep belly breaths through your nose and make your exhale longer than your inhale.🧘‍♀️
2️⃣Sunshine! - sunlight at different times in the day has many great benefits. ☀️ Morning and evening sunlight with those red rays aids melatonin production which helps regulate your sleep.  It’s also very calming.  Midday blue sunlight provides us with the most Vitamin D and serotonin.  Serotonin is a hormone that helps regulate our mood and is a precursor to melatonin, that “sleep hormone.” So getting sunlight a few times throughout the day aids sleep, which helps restore our body and relieve stress.  Sunlight also provides endorphins which increase those good feelings. 😁
3️⃣Adrenal Cocktails - those things provide a ton of nutrients, including sodium and potassium, which are needed to deal with stress.  Our body uses up a bunch of minerals during the stress response, and it’s important to replenish those.  I’ve seen amazing benefits when I feel anxiety coming on and drink an adrenal cocktail.  They’re a game changer! 🙌🙌

So many of us moms are guilty of this. 😳 We “ So many of us moms are guilty of this. 😳 We “don’t have time” to care for ourselves.  But really, you don’t have time not to.⏰
We can get so busy taking care of others, that we forget to take care of ourselves.  Or, more than likely, we just don’t make it a priority.
Self-care is so important!  And it doesn’t have to look like a bubble bath and pedicure.🛀💅 
Sometimes it’s as simple as getting enough rest and eating nourishing foods. 🌿🍅🛏
If you want to gain energy, improve your digestion, get rid of your brain fog, and just feel better, prioritizing your own self care is a must.
Nourishing yourself and setting aside time in your busy day to do things like:
❤️Eat regular meals
❤️Drink your adrenal cocktails
❤️Take some deep breaths
❤️Go on a walk
❤️Get some sunshine
❤️Sleep a full 8 hours
is not selfish.  Building a strong foundation in your body by doing these basic things will allow you to become more resilient when life throws you curve balls and allows you to have the energy to show up as your best self and be a good example for your kids.
You are valued.  You deserve the same love and care you give to others. 
You don’t have time to NOT prioritize self care and invest in yourself.  Because, eventually, giving, giving, giving, and doing for others without replenishing will run you to the ground.  You will become depleted and experience fatigue (or even more fatigue than you have now).

One small thing you can do to drastically increase One small thing you can do to drastically increase your energy - start your day with breakfast.🍳🍊🍌🥓
Breakfast is something many of us skip because:
1️⃣We’re not hungry.
2️⃣We’re trying intermittent fasting.
3️⃣We don’t have time to eat.
However, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. 
Eating something within an hour of waking up is so important to fueling your metabolism and providing you with lasting energy.  Breakfast helps to balance your blood sugar, fuel your provide your cells with the glucose they need to make energy (without relying on stress hormones to do that), and lowers stress hormones (something most of us can definitely afford to do).

That’s right…. You can’t heal your metaboli That’s right….
You can’t heal your metabolism and gain energy in the same environment that got you here.
I’m not saying you have to move or get a new job.  But just taking a supplement is not enough to bring you out of this place.
You’re tired all the time and it’s affecting your mood.  You don’t feel like yourself anymore and just don’t enjoy life like you used to.  You feel like you’re just barely making it through the days.
I get it.  I’ve been there. 
And no….it’s not all because you’re getting older or because of your genetics.  It is totally possible to get out of this funk, gain your energy back, and gain peace and joy. 
But for that to happen, things have to change. 
To undo the damage done to your metabolism, you have to address what caused it to slow down.  You have to create change.  And using smart supplementation is amazing.  Don’t get me wrong.  But, most likely, not taking a supplement is not what got you to this place.  What caused your body to slow down?
Is it because you’re running on 6 hours of sleep a night?  Are you going, going, going and not setting aside any time to breathe and relax? Are you nourishing your body with ENOUGH real, whole, nutrient-dense foods?

Stress: something we all deal with but don’t li Stress:  something we all deal with but don’t like to admit
Stress is at the root of 90% of disease and illness and is very likely at the root of your fatigue. 
And stress doesn’t have to be mental.
👉It could be physical stress, like overdoing exercise or an injury.
👉It could be a heavy toxic burden from chemicals and heavy metals in your home & beauty products, food, and water.
👉It could be nutritional deficiencies and imbalances.
👉And yes- it can definitely be mental things like a long list of to dos, perfectionism, money problems, trauma, or relationship problems. 
Overtime high amounts of the stress hormone cortisol can lower the T4 (inactive thyroid hormone) that your thyroid is producing.  T4 has to be converted into T3 (the active form) to be used to regulate metabolism.  But cortisol can hinder that conversion from taking place too.  And if that’s not enough, cortisol can also convert too much T3 to Reverse T3 (another inactive form).
Cortisol is not bad.  It’s doing it’s job.  It has to down-regulate things, because during a survival situation, it doesn’t want energy being wasted doing things like digesting food, reproducing, or enjoying life.  Not when there’s a tiger to run away from. 
One of the biggest things you can do for your thyroid health, metabolism, and energy is work on stress management.  All the herbs, supplements, and amazing food in the world is not going to work if you’re living in a constant state of stress.
