Fatigue is the number one symptom of a slow metabolism.  And what’s the main cause of a slow metabolism?  STRESS!!!
Too much cortisol in your system hinders the thyroid from working like it’s supposed to.  It slows down, and so does metabolism.
One big stressor your body undergoes every day is keeping your blood sugar stable.  It needs to have a certain amount of glucose flowing in the blood at all times to be able to use to make energy.  When it’s too low from fasting, not eating enough calories, not eating enough carbs, or not eating often enough, your energy lowers.
But to keep you alive, cortisol is released. It knocks on the door of your muscles and fat to get some stored glucose to use for energy.  That process (called gluconeogenesis) is stressful!  Cortisol is so important for keeping homeostasis and keeping your body alive and functioning well in emergencies.  But it’s not a hormone we want being pumped out all day every day if we want a happy and healthy metabolism.
Too much exercise, especially cardio, is also not good for someone that needs to recover from a slow metabolism and fatigue.  High intensity exercise raises cortisol, and we want to keep that down and get out of that fight-or-flight state.  Instead, try lower intensity strength training, yoga, or walks.  Or just rest when you’re low on energy.  Listen to that signal from your body and respect it.

Making small changes overtime to reach your health goals can actually help you reach them quicker than overhauling your whole life.
Before you take any drastic steps to gain more energy, think about whether or not you’ve got the basics down.  Are you living in a way that supports balance in your body? Today I am a 😆 because I had an amazing night of sleep 🛌 last night  and prioritized nourishing my body with a nutrient-dense breakfast 🍳 soon after I woke up.⁣

Eating a good breakfast is so important for keeping your metabolism on track and providing glucose to your cells to use for energy.⁣

According to what we’re told by the government (because we can totally trust them) vegetable oil is the way to go. I mean vegetables are healthy, right?🤔
Question- can you see or squeeze the oil out of corn, “canola” (that’s not actually a vegetable), or other vegetables? No! Vegetables go through an incredible amount of processing 🤢 to extract the oil. It’s not natural at all. 
Animal fats, like butter, ghee, tallow, and lard, as well as coconut oil are much less processed and contain mostly saturated fat.👍
Here’s something controversial we’re told the opposite of - saturated fat is actually HEALTHY and needed! 🤯It’s gotten a bad rap because of a faulty study 100 years ago. But it actually DOESN’T lead to heart disease, obesity, and death- as long as it’s eaten in good amounts in a balanced diet (I’m definitely not saying to go around eating sticks of butter!).
Saturated fat is solid 🧈at room temperature and is MUCH more stable than polyunsaturated fatty acids (also known as PUFAs) like vegetable oil, corn oil, canola oil, soybean oil, and peanut oil.
PUFAs are unstable and oxidize easily from heat, oxygen, or light (heat = cooking or inside the body since it makes heat).
Why is that bad?
Oxidation leads to free radicals. Free radicals lead to:
1️⃣cellular damage
2️⃣inflammation
3️⃣insulin resistance
4️⃣diabetes
5️⃣high blood pressure
6️⃣slow metabolism
7️⃣obesity
8️⃣aging skin
9️⃣cancer
🔟and pretty much every disease.
So just eat the butter!🧈

That it’s not normal….even if your blood work all comes back as “normal.”
The blood does not give us the whole picture.  Your blood can look great, but there’s still an issue at the cell level.
There is always a reason for fatigue.

I hear from women all the time that they’re eati I hear from women all the time that they’re eating clean and doing all the right things to gain energy, and they still have daily fatigue.
I’ve been there too.  I ate Paleo and restricted a ton of food, tried Keto, and counted and restricted calories.
And I’m not saying that eating clean and avoiding processed food or avoiding non-organic food is bad.  Counting and restricting calories isn’t bad either.  It can be helpful at times, depending on what your goal is, and when done the right way.
But here’s the thing, it doesn’t matter if you’re eating the most clean, organic, healthy foods on the planet if you’re not eating enough.  Eating the most nutrient-dense foods in the world but only eating 1200 calories a day will not provide you with the energy you need to thrive.
All your cells (with the exception of red blood cells) need FUEL to create energy.  That fuel comes from FOOD. 
Most women are actually eating too few calories, not too many.  I know there are exceptions.  This doesn’t go for everyone.  But if you’re struggling with fatigue and don’t know why - take a look at your food intake.  Are you eating enough to allow your body to make enough energy? 
Because this is such an important piece of having energy, it is something we focus on in my program, The Fatigue to Freedom System.  I help you figure out how many calories you need for your individual body and I help you get there in a strategic way.

Not gonna lie...my journey to a fatigue-free life Not gonna lie...my journey to a fatigue-free life had its ups and downs.
Making sure I was eating enough calories to support my metabolism was tough when I wasn’t even hungry the majority of the time.
I also had some HUGE mindset hurdles to overcome.  I had to let go of some things I was led to believe were true, but just weren’t… 
Through all the struggles and setbacks on my way to a healthy metabolism and consistently great energy…
💡My biggest realization was that perfectionism was my biggest enemy.💡
Setting unrealistic standards for myself, trying to do all the things, and do them all perfectly got me in trouble.  It caused way too much stress and overwhelm, eventually leading to burnout and fatigue…because my body could not continue on how it was going.  All the thinking and doing 1,000,000 things at once kept me in a fight-or-flight state constantly (so constant stress hormones😬).
I’ve learned that healing often involves doing LESS, not MORE. 
And it’s okay to let go of perfectionism.  Things do not have to be done perfectly.  It’s okay to let the load of laundry sit an extra day because you have absolutely zero energy to get up and fold it.
Remembering that one realization helped me reframe my thinking and move forward.  It helped me prioritize the most important things.  It helped me focus on one thing at a time, do the things that needed to be done the most, let good, rather than perfect, be enough, and say no to some things that aren’t necessary.

If so, try slowing down and taking some deep breaths throughout the day or whenever you feel yourself start to become overwhelmed.  And don’t think about your to-do list while you’re breathing.
